We interviewed David, a former colleague at Charco, to learn more about his dedication to raising awareness of Young Onset Parkinson's Disease (YOPD) by running marathons.

To mark Parkinson's Awareness Month (April) in 2023, this video highlights an exceptionally inspiring individual committed to raising awareness for Parkinson's. David faces the challenging symptom of Freezing of Gait while walking. Despite this obstacle, he perseveres by running with the assistance of the CUE1 device, which facilitates cueing initiation, enabling individuals like David to take steps without experiencing freezing. Witnessing David's remarkable journey as he courageously confronts the challenges posed by Parkinson's and continues to advocate for awareness was truly inspiring. That's why we planned to create a series of marathon videos featuring him.

The most challenging aspect of creating this video was tracking and following David during his half-marathon run. While we could monitor his progress through an application, spotting him with the camera lens amidst the crowd was challenging. However, despite the difficulties, the sense of accomplishment upon completing the video was truly rewarding. Additionally, filming this half marathon has provided valuable insights that will contribute to better preparation and filming strategies for the upcoming full marathon on April 23, 2023, with David.
